The Sift Dimension Addon

Addons / Addons 26

Ever since the Ancient City dropped, the Minecraft community has been obsessing over the massive reinforced deepslate frame sitting at its center. When Mojang officially teased "The Sift" at Minecraft Live 2026 as the game's fourth dimension, it confirmed exactly what that structure was meant for. But instead of waiting until the official release in 2027, this add-on reverse-engineers the concept directly into Bedrock right now. It transforms the Deep Dark's biggest mystery into a fully functional gateway, offering players an early, playable recreation of the new dimension rather than just an empty concept.

The progression to actually reach the dimension feels completely vanilla-accurate. You cannot just build a portal in your backyard; you are forced to survive a Deep Dark expedition, locate the reinforced deepslate monument, manually scrape away the obstructing sculk blocks, and ignite the frame with flint and steel. Once inside, you aren't just staring at a reskinned Nether. The Sift generates as a massive, procedural void-realm composed of sprawling floating islands, cliffs, and valleys. It introduces an entirely new environmental palette—thick Sift Forests, custom wood types, ambient fog, and even native wildlife like Sift Rabbits—giving the dimension a distinct, eerie identity that feels completely detached from the Overworld.

Building a truly functional custom dimension in Bedrock is usually a technical nightmare. Most dimension add-ons just teleport you a hundred thousand blocks away in the Overworld and fake a skybox, which immediately breaks the global mob cap and causes massive weather glitches. This add-on bypasses those hacks by utilizing proper dimension-loading scripts. The portal mechanics are particularly impressive—the backend dynamically scans the reinforced deepslate frame on both the X and Z axes and accommodates interiors up to 21 blocks wide, perfectly adapting to natural variations in the Ancient City generation. Because the floating islands use a custom procedural generation system, you will experience a slight rendering delay when breaching new chunks for the first time, but the overall engine stability is locked in, ensuring your newly built bases are safely preserved when you travel back to the Overworld.

Are you going to risk a Warden encounter just to be the first one to build a base out of custom Sift Logs in the new dimension, or are you going to use the backend `/the_sift:travel` command to safely bypass the Deep Dark and explore the floating islands in peace?
