The Broken Script (Bedrock) Mod

Most Minecraft horror mods rely on cheap jumpscares and overwhelmingly loud noises that lose their impact after the first ten minutes. The Broken Script takes a completely different approach, functioning as a slow-burn psychological horror experience heavily inspired by classic creepypastas and Alternate Reality Games. Instead of immediately throwing monsters at you, it slowly builds a sense of deep paranoia by leaving the world mostly intact at first, only to gradually introduce unsettling anomalies, strange messages, and the unnerving feeling that you are being watched.

What makes this addon particularly dangerous is that it actively breaks the standard rules of the game to mess with the player. The developers explicitly warn that this mod will intentionally grief your world and destroy your buildings. It introduces dozens of randomized events and several terrifying entities, including a mysterious presence known as 'Null' that functionally joins your single-player world just to haunt you. The script can literally kick you from your own game session or trap you in an inescapable, infinite maze of cobblestone and bedrock where your only way out is to force a respawn. The environmental corruption even extends to the skybox, drastically altering the moon and requiring you to avoid using any custom shaders that might conflict with the visual changes.



To heighten the immersion, the pack applies a heavy VHS-style visual filter over your screen, adding retro grain and distortion that perfectly matches the analog horror aesthetic. If the static becomes too distracting during gameplay, you can completely disable the overlay using a specific configuration item. Because it utilizes Beta APIs to achieve these game-breaking effects, you must have experimental settings enabled in your world options. Due to the highly destructive nature of the anomalies, you absolutely should not install this on an existing survival world that you actually care about.
