Blurry's Java PvP Add-on

Addons 1.21 / Addons 26

Blurry's Java PvP mod adds useful Java PvP features.

Anyone who regularly switches between Java and Bedrock knows the absolute whiplash of Bedrock's combat system. While Java moved on to timed hits and tactical cooldowns years ago, Bedrock has been permanently stuck in the 1.8 spam-clicking era. Shields are awkwardly tied to the crouch button, sprint knockback feels wildly inconsistent, and fighting multiple mobs usually just means aggressively mashing the attack button until your mouse breaks. Blurry's Java PvP completely rips out that floaty Bedrock combat and wires in a fully functional recreation of Java's 1.9+ system.

From a technical standpoint, rewriting a core combat engine inside Bedrock without breaking the game is incredibly difficult. Most add-ons that try to add attack indicators or sweep mechanics require you to toggle every experimental feature in the world settings, which instantly flags your save file and can cause severe instability during version updates. BlurryFACE manages to bypass this entirely. The add-on runs natively, meaning zero experimental toggles and no messy `player.json` edits. It introduces a functional UI attack indicator that tracks your weapon cooldowns, meaning you actually have to pace your swings for maximum damage. Sprint-hits finally deal proper Java-style knockback, and swords can execute sweeping attacks to hit multiple entities at once—an absolute game-changer for clearing out crowded mob farms.

The quality-of-life adjustments are what really glue the whole pack together. Tying the shield block to your standard interact input (right-click on PC, left-trigger on controller) instead of crouching makes combat infinitely more fluid. You can also double-crouch to instantly throw food into your offhand. The creator even ported over subtle Java environment rules that Bedrock lacks, like water instantly washing away cobwebs, doors creating breathable air pockets underwater, and TNT minecarts detonating instantly upon impact.

There is one massive backend catch you have to respect, though. Because Bedrock doesn't natively support sweeping attacks or dynamic cooldowns on vanilla gear, the add-on physically replaces your standard swords and axes with custom items running on the new logic. That means if you ever decide to remove the behavior pack from your Realm, every single weapon converted by the add-on will immediately vanish from your world. You definitely want to test this on a backup save before committing your main survival gear to it.

If you are running a Geyser server for crossplay, or you are just sick of the brain-dead spam-clicking in standard Bedrock, this completely changes the PvP dynamic. You are no longer just trading rapid-fire hits in a corner; you actually have to manage your spacing, time your critical strikes, and use your shield reflexively.
