Useful Items Mod

Useful Items Mod is the kind of addon you install and instantly wonder why vanilla never had it. It’s all quality-of-life: no Experimental Features, achievements stay on, and every new item can be used in your off-hand so you can keep mining, fighting, or building while the info sits on-screen doing its job. Instead of opening menus or guessing, you get clear readouts that help you play smarter in survival.

The upgraded tools are the real daily drivers. The Advanced Compass shows the direction you’re facing and your angle in degrees, which is perfect for lining up long builds or staying locked on a straight path while traveling. The regular Compass gets more useful too by showing the distance to your spawn point (or your bed spawn when it exists), and the Recovery Compass adds distance tracking to your last death location, with an “Unknown” warning if that death was in a different dimension than where you currently are.



Then you’ve got the nerdy-but-amazing helpers: Chunk Detector for chunk coordinates and boundaries (huge for farms and redstone-ish planning), Coordinate Converter for Nether/Overworld math based on where you’re standing, and Moon Phase Detector that tells you the current moon phase plus slime spawn rate in swamps. Entity Detector is also clutch—within a 25-block radius it counts passive mobs, hostile mobs, players, and dropped items, which is great for checking if a cave is stacked with enemies or if your area is getting laggy from item spam.

If you want the “one gadget” approach, the Explorer Device combines 9 items into one and lets you choose which tool to activate when you use it.
